Children can suffer concussions without even realizing it. If your child suffers a blow to the head, falls and hits their head or is involved in a minor car crash where their head jerks forward quickly, it’s wise to have them checked out as soon as possible.
At KidMed, we know that falls, sports injuries and accidents often don’t happen during your pediatrician’s office hours. That’s why we’re here. At our Short Pump children’s concussion clinic, our staff will carefully examine your child to find signs of a concussion. We have on-sight digital X-ray equipment. We can also arrange for an ultrasound or CT scan at a local hospital if warranted.
Note: If your child has lost consciousness after a head injury, call 911 or take them to a hospital emergency room immediately.
Why Choose KidMed’s Children’s Concussion Clinic in Short Pump VA?
Hospital emergency rooms can be scary places for children. You never know what they’re going to see. You also have no guarantee that you’ll be able to see a pediatrician. At KidMed, all of our doctors are pediatric care providers. Our Short Pump children’s concussion clinic is designed with children in mind, with décor and activities to make them feel comfortable.
We’re a full-service pediatric urgent care clinic exclusively for infants, children, teens and young adults through 25 years old. In addition to stiches for cuts and lacerations and Short Pump removable casts, we treat a full range of acute injuries and illnesses, including:
- Allergic reactions
- Foreign objects
- Sprains and strains
- Respiratory issues
- Gastrointestinal issues
- And more.
We take all major health insurance plans and Medicaid, and we’re typically far less expensive than an emergency room visit. We also have relationships with pediatric specialists in the area, so we can make arrangements to get your child specialized care if needed.
